 Entity:

Basic information

Status : extant

Phylogeny

Apomorphy : 1) Heteromorphic paraxonemal rods: The paraxonemal rod of the posterior/ventral flagellum (flagellum 1) has a three-dimensional lattice appearance, while the rod of the anterior/dorsal flagellum (flagellum 2) has a tubular/whorled appearance. Ref: A.G.B. Simpson, 2020: [47] (definition).
Apomorphy : 2) A distinctive, asymmetric arrangement of three flagellar microtubular roots, with one particular root supporting longitudinally a tubular feeding apparatus. Ref: A.G.B. Simpson, 2020: [47].
Apomorphy : 3) Tubular extrusomes. The extrusomes are tubular, have a thick wall when in the undischarged state, and expand and elongate as a tubular lattice upon discharge. Tubular extrusomes are present in members of all major clades of Euglenozoa, but have been secondarily lost in numerous clades. Ref: A.G.B. Simpson, 2020: [47].
